Founder
Born, raised, and educated in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Derek aspires to embody the traits Calgarians are known for: hard work, rugged charm, and a giving spirit.
Derek earned all three of his degrees from the University of Calgary. During his undergrad, Derek studied Finance and Risk Management at the Haskayne School of Business, while also playing football for the U of C Dinos varsity team.
After graduating, Derek spent several years working for Canada's oldest and most respected oil and gas energy trust. He returned, however, to the U of C to pursue his first passion: the law.
During his postgraduate studies Derek earned both his law degree and M.B.A. in under four years. After graduating, Derek spent the first five years of his career working for top-tier Calgary-based boutique law firms, focused on corporate finance and securities law. Derek gained valuable transactional experience working for clients in the real estate, oil and gas, and hi-tech sectors.
Today, Derek is the principal at Cougle + Co., which strives to provide top-tier real estate conveyancing and business law services to its clients.
